Dedicated Higher Education Institutions

In Douglas-Coffee County, higher education options include both the Coffee County campuses of South Georgia State College and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College.

Accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges, South Georgia State College’s core curriculum is designed to provide a broad general education. Additionally, the college offers Bachelor of Science degrees in biological science, management and nursing. Over 20 Associates degrees are available in a variety of fields of study, such as computer science, logistics, business administration, nursing, mathematics and more. The Douglas campus includes two modern residence halls, which provide additional student life programming and all the amenities and comforts of home. The college also offers over 20 clubs and organizations between its campuses in Douglas and Waycross to provide a well-rounded collegiate experience.

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is committed to providing hands-on education to prepare students for careers with the necessary skills for success. A unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, Wiregrass offers technical and industrial programs in disciplines like electrical and computer engineering, industrial systems technology, machine tool technology, and welding and joining technology. It is also home to the Center for Industry Excellence, which offers extensive workforce training in advanced automation, health and safety, mechanical, and leadership development.
