Support For Local and Small Businesses

Douglas-Coffee County leaders understand that no community can thrive without the success of small businesses. Coffee County is a member of the Georgia Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network, which offers business development services and assistance to entrepreneurs. Management training is offered via seminars, workshops and courses on topics such as management, technical skills, international trade, marketing and more. The SBDC network also offers no-cost assistance to discuss and evaluate ideas for starting a business, networking, answers to business questions and free reference and materials developed by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce also offers programs to assist small business such as its โ€œHow to Start a Business Guide,โ€ which is available for download. The Women in Business program promotes job and leadership skills for women. Bi-annual meetings feature a variety of business and educational topics. Leadership Coffee, also administered by the Chamber, takes participants into an eight-month project to take a close look at government, education, economic development and all issues dealing with quality of life on a local and state level. Through the program, participants develop leadership skills for both the workplace and the community.
